The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) is a globally recognized authority that develops the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) and certifies plumbing and mechanical products to protect public health and safety. Through rigorous testing, IAPMO ensures that certified products, such as those used in underground construction, drain, waste, and sewer systems, meet the UPC’s stringent performance and safety standards. The Standard Specifications for Public Works Construction (SSPWC), known as the Greenbook, is a public-sector standard crafted by Southern California agencies to ensure durable underground sewer construction. Revised every three years since 1967, it sets rigorous guidelines, including the pickle jar test for corrosion-resistant materials, free from private company influence. Adopted by over 200 U.S. agencies, it is a trusted benchmark, with compliant products listed on the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering Approved Materials list.
